Escalate an email thread to someone
Forward a thread with context to the right person to handle, including a short brief of what's needed.
The prompt
Escalate this to [PERSON]. Include the relevant context and what I need from them.
Forwarding a long email thread without context just moves the problem. Escalating with a clean summary tells the next person exactly what to do.
What alfred_ does
- Reads the full thread to extract context
- Drafts a short brief: what happened, what’s needed, what you recommend (if asked)
- Forwards to the named person with the brief at the top, original thread below
- Optionally CC’s you so you stay in the loop
Tips
- Be explicit about the ask: “Forward to Sarah and ask her to make the call” vs. just “Forward to Sarah”
- Include your recommendation: “Pass to Dave, tell him I’d recommend we wait until Q4”
- For sensitive escalations: “Forward to legal but mark as urgent and explain why”

Variations
- Forward this to Dave with a quick summary.
- Loop in legal — explain the contract concern in one paragraph.
- Send this to my manager and tell her what I'd recommend.
- Pass this thread to Sarah, she's the right owner.
Best for
Threads outside your scope, decisions above your level, or anything where you're the wrong person to action it but you want a clean handoff.
