Block focus time on my calendar
Reserve uninterrupted time for deep work, set as busy so others can't auto-schedule over it.
The prompt
Block 2 hours tomorrow morning for deep work.
If focus time isn’t on the calendar as busy, it gets eaten by meeting requests. alfred_ blocks it as a real commitment, not a suggestion.
What alfred_ does
- Finds an open slot matching your time window and duration
- Creates a calendar event marked as busy (so external scheduling tools can’t book over it)
- Optionally adds a privacy-friendly title (“Focus block” instead of “Working on Q3 plan”)
- Confirms the block so you know it’s protected
Tips
- Default duration to 90 minutes for deep work — that aligns with the ultradian focus cycle
- Stack with recovery: “Block 90 minutes of focus, then a 20-minute walk after”
- Recurring: “Block focus time every Tuesday and Thursday 9-11am for the next 6 weeks”

Variations
- Reserve 9-11am tomorrow as focus time.
- Block the rest of today for writing — set as busy.
- Find me two 90-minute focus blocks next week.
- Hold a 3-hour focus session Wednesday afternoon.
Best for
Protecting time for the cognitively demanding work that gets crowded out by meetings — writing, strategy, customer interviews, code review.
