Make your own
Write a routine in a sentence. How to say when it runs, what it should look at, and where the result should go, with examples for client work.
You don’t need to learn a builder. Say what you want the way you’d ask a colleague.
A good routine says three things
- When: “every Friday at 3”, “weekdays at 8 AM”, “when an email from @acme.com arrives”
- What to look at and do: “the client emails I haven’t answered”, “invoices in my inbox this month”, “what each client asked for this week”
- Where the result goes: “text me”, “email me”, “add it to my tasks”
Examples
- “Every Monday at 8, email me each client I haven’t heard from in two weeks”
- “Weekdays at 4 PM, text me any client request still waiting on a reply”
- “When a receipt arrives, add it to my expenses note with the amount and vendor”
- “On the first of the month, email me a list of invoices I received last month”
- “When someone emails asking to meet, text me who it is and two times I’m free”
Checking it before it runs
alfred_ shows you the routine it built: the trigger, the steps, and where the result goes. Change anything by asking (“make it 9 instead”, “only for Acme and Northside”), then turn it on.
Changing or stopping a routine
Your routines are on the Routines page. Open one to change its schedule, run it now, see what it sent, or turn it off. Or ask: “pause my Friday client summary”.
When a routine sends email
A routine reports to you. If you want one to draft replies, it leaves them for you to review. Nothing is sent to anyone else without your OK.
