Routines

Morning brief

A short read at the start of the day: what needs you, your meetings, and what's due. It arrives at 7 AM by text unless you change the time or choose email.

What’s in it

Section What it shows
What needs you Emails waiting on a reply or a decision from you, most important first: who it’s from, what they need, how long they’ve waited. Newsletters, receipts and automated mail stay out.
Your day The meetings ahead, with times.
Tasks due Tasks due today, and anything overdue.
Weather and local news If you set a location under Settings → Preferences.
Your own sections Anything you add in a sentence, like “a line on any client I haven’t emailed in two weeks”.

When and how it arrives

7 AM in your time zone, every day, by text, unless you change it. On Routines → Morning brief you can change:

  • Time of day: any hour, 4 AM at the earliest.
  • Days: every day, or weekdays only.
  • Where it goes: text, email, or both.

Or text alfred_:

  • Send my brief at 6 AM
  • Only send my brief on weekdays
  • Send my brief by email
  • Brief me

“Brief me” sends a fresh one right away. A text brief scheduled inside your quiet hours waits until they end.

Acting on it

  • From a text brief, reply to the text: “draft a reply to Dana saying Thursday works”, “remind me about the Acme invoice at 3”. Any draft or invite is shown to you first; reply “send” to confirm.
  • From an email brief, each item links to the thread.
  • In the app, everything in the brief is also on Home, where each item leaves once it’s handled. Earlier briefs are under Reports on Home.

For a mid-day or end-of-day read, set up a routine: “every weekday at 5 PM, text me what’s still open”.
