Routines quickstart
Describe what you want in a sentence and alfred_ runs it for you, on a schedule or the moment a matching email arrives, then tells you what it found.
A routine is a job alfred_ does for you on its own clock. You describe it in plain language; alfred_ sets it up, runs it, and sends you what it found.
Two ways a routine starts
- On a schedule: “every Monday at 8, send me the week ahead”
- When an email arrives: “when an invoice comes in, add it to my expenses list and tell me the total”
Making one
Ask alfred_ in chat or by text, or open Routines in the sidebar and describe it:
- “Every weekday at 5 PM, text me the client emails I still owe a reply to”
- “Every Friday at 3, email me a summary of what each client asked for this week”
- “When an email from a new client arrives, text me who it’s from and what they want”
alfred_ shows you the routine it built (what it does, when it runs, and where the result goes) before turning it on. See Make your own.
Ready-made routines
The Routines page has ready-made routines you switch on with one click: your morning brief, Prep every meeting, Plan my week, Wrap up my day, Clean up your calendar, Chase what I’m owed, Proposals waiting on a decision, Sort my tasks and Log every invoice. See Ready-made routines.
What a routine can do
Routines use the same abilities you have in chat: read and search your email and calendar, look at your tasks, check connected apps like Slack or HubSpot, look things up on the web, and write you a summary. They report what they find. Anything that would send an email or invite people still waits for your OK.

Routines run on your plan’s monthly credits. See Credits.
