Quiet hours

When alfred_ should stop texting and sending non-urgent notifications.

Quiet hours tell alfred_ when not to interrupt you. SMS is the most affected; non-urgent reminders are also held back during quiet hours.

What you can configure

  • Quiet hours window — e.g., 9pm to 7am
  • Days — every day, weekdays only, or custom
  • What “urgent” means — what alfred_ may still text during quiet hours
  • Disable SMS entirely — turn off SMS regardless of time

Default settings

  • Quiet hours: 9pm–7am
  • Days: every day
  • Urgent override: VIPs marked critical, calendar reminders for events starting within 15 minutes

What gets held back during quiet hours

  • Daily Brief (if scheduled in the window)
  • Most reminders
  • General SMS responses (alfred_ replies during quiet hours, but doesn’t initiate)

What alfred_ still does

  • Replies if you text first
  • Sends critical VIP notifications (configurable)
  • Fires meeting-imminent reminders

Asking alfred_ to set quiet hours

  • “Turn on quiet hours from 9pm to 7am”
  • “Don’t text me on weekends”
  • “Disable SMS for the next 4 hours”
