Multi-device
Text alfred_ from your phone or desk and switch between SMS and Web Chat without losing context, since both surfaces share the same assistant.
SMS and Web Chat are two surfaces on the same assistant — alfred_ remembers what you were doing in one when you switch to the other.
Texting from your computer
If you’re at your desk, you can still text alfred_ via:
- iMessage on macOS (if your phone is set up to forward texts)
- Google Messages for web — messages.google.com
- Web Chat — same conversation, richer UI
Switching mid-conversation
Suppose you ask via SMS:
Schedule a 1:1 with Marc next Wednesday afternoon
alfred_ replies asking “30 or 60 minutes?”. You can answer:
- From SMS — “30”
- From Web Chat — open the chat, alfred_ knows you’re still in the scheduling flow
Both surfaces share active context for ~10 minutes after the last message.
Per-device preferences
You can configure different formats per surface in Settings → SMS and Settings → Web Chat:
- SMS — short replies, no rich previews, optimized for thumbs
- Web Chat — full responses, compose previews, file uploads
