Privacy
What alfred_ stores from your texts, what we never store, and how to clear conversation history.
When you text alfred_, the same privacy rules apply as the rest of alfred_. This page calls out the SMS-specific bits.
What alfred_ stores from SMS
- Conversation history — your texts and alfred_’s replies, scoped to your account
- Active context — short-lived state about what you were doing in the past ~10 minutes (so you can swap surfaces without losing the thread)
- Memory entries — only when you explicitly ask alfred_ to remember something
- Activity log — what alfred_ did on your behalf (sent emails, created tasks, etc.) so you can audit it
What alfred_ doesn’t store
- Your texts to other people — alfred_ only sees what you text to alfred_, not your full message history
- Anyone else’s number from group texts — alfred_ is a 1:1 channel
- Voicemail content (we don’t process voice)
MMS attachments
When you send a photo to alfred_:
- It’s processed in-flight (extracting text, identifying receipts, etc.)
- It’s cached for the duration of the conversation
- After ~24 hours, attachments are purged unless you explicitly saved them
Disabling SMS
Turn off SMS access any time:
- “alfred, disable SMS for me” — immediately pauses incoming
- Settings → SMS → Disconnect
Your account and other surfaces (Web Chat, Daily Brief email) remain active.
Quiet hours
By default alfred_ won’t text during quiet hours (e.g., 9pm–7am). Configure in Settings → Quiet hours.
