Folders
Organize notes into folders by client, project, or topic.
Folders keep notes grouped — by client, by project, by topic, however you think about your work. Folders are flat (no nesting today, by design — keep it simple).
What you can do
- Create a folder — “create a folder called Acme”
- Move a note — “move my Acme proposal note to the Acme folder”
- Rename a folder — “rename Acme to Acme Inc”
- Delete a folder — notes inside aren’t deleted; they move to the default folder
- Default folder — notes without a specified folder go here
Auto-routing
You can set rules so new notes containing specific keywords or related to specific people auto-file. Settings → Notes → Folders → Auto-route.
Examples:
- Notes mentioning
@acme.com→ “Acme” folder - Notes containing “1:1” → “1:1 Notes” folder
- Notes linked to an event → folder named after the event series
When to use folders vs. search
If you have under ~50 notes, search alone works fine. Folders become useful past 100+ notes when search results need pre-filtering. Don’t over-organize early.
