If your team runs client work across a handful of inboxes, the question about any team assistant is whether it keeps track of who owes whom a reply. Here is what Town announced, what a Townie does with email and calendar, and what it costs, from Town’s own pages and TechCrunch.
What happened
On October 19, 2026, Town announced a $108 million Series B, co-led by Forerunner Ventures and Menlo Ventures, with continued participation from a16z and First Round Capital, and other investors including Serena Ventures.
TechCrunch reported that the round gave Town a unicorn valuation four months after its public launch, and that the company has raised at least $160 million to date, after a $55 million Series A in June. Town was founded by Jean-Denis Greze, formerly CTO of Plaid.
What Town does with email and calendar
Town gives each person an assistant it calls a Townie. In Town’s words, your work “is spread across inboxes, calendars, chats, and apps,” and your Townie “works in all of them, learning your people, projects, and voice.” Its homepage shows one example from Gmail: “A client asked to push Friday’s kickoff. I’ve drafted a reply offering two open times from your calendar.”
The Series B is about Townies working with each other. Town’s announcement lists four things a team gets:
- Draft in anyone’s voice: your Townie works with an executive’s Townie to draft a message in their style.
- Find a warm connection: it checks across the team for who knows the person you’re trying to reach.
- Pressure-test before a meeting: it runs your draft past teammates’ Townies first.
- Update once, apply everywhere: when a teammate improves a process, every Townie on the team adopts it. TechCrunch describes this as a shared workflow that updates every employee’s Townie.
Town says none of the context you connect is used to train a model by default, and that it is SOC 2 Type 2 compliant.
What it costs

- Free: 30 chats a month with the assistant.
- Starter: $15 a month, 1,250 credits.

If you run client work over email
Town is a work assistant for everyone on a team, priced in credits. If the problem is client email slipping, alfred_ is built for that job.
alfred_ is an AI assistant for client-facing teams, and each person on the team gets their own. It reads your email across up to six Gmail, Outlook and IMAP accounts, flags the emails that need your answer, and keeps one list of the replies you owe and the replies you’re waiting on. It sends a morning brief by email or text, and you can ask it for things on the web, on iPhone, or by text. Nothing is sent until you approve it. Plans start at $29.99 a month, and teams are $49.99 a seat on one bill. The two side by side are in alfred_ vs Town.
