# Add something to my calendar

Drop a meeting, task, or reminder onto your calendar in one line. alfred_ reads the date and time from your words, so you never open the app or fill a form.

## The prompt

- Schedule \[EVENT] on \[DATE/TIME] with \[PERSON].

The fastest way to put something on your calendar is to just say what it is. alfred_ parses time, attendees, and any extra options like video links from a single sentence.

## What alfred_ does

1. Parses the date, time, duration, and timezone (defaults to yours if not stated)
2. Resolves attendee names to emails from your contacts
3. Adds a video link if requested (Zoom, Google Meet)
4. Creates the event on your default calendar
5. Sends invites to attendees (you can opt out of this if you prefer)

## What to include in the prompt

The more you give in one shot, the fewer follow-up questions:

| You include | alfred_ does |
| - | - |
| Just a time | Creates a personal block |
| Time + person | Creates and sends an invite |
| Time + person + duration | Uses your duration instead of the default 30 min |
| Time + "with Zoom" or "with Meet link" | Attaches a video link |
| Time + topic | Sets the event title |

## Examples by surface

**Web chat (more detail tends to work):**

- "Schedule a Zoom call on May 8th 6am PST with Dylan and Hart regarding the Raven discussion"

**SMS (terser is fine):**

- "Send invite to Meti Basiri for 30 mins at 3pm"
- "Calendar stables 6pm on Monday"
- "Put football on my calendar tomorrow 3-4pm, include mom"

## Adding video links

alfred_ supports Google Meet (auto-attached if you have Google Calendar) and Zoom (if you've connected your Zoom account). Be explicit:

- "Include a Google Meet link"
- "Add a Zoom link"
- "Use my personal Zoom room"

## Personal blocks vs. invites

If you don't want anyone notified, say so:

- "Block 9-10am tomorrow for deep work, no invite"
- "Put 'dentist' on my calendar Friday 2pm, just for me"

## Reminders without a calendar event

For "remind me to X" without taking up a calendar slot, see [Add a reminder](https://get-alfred.ai/docs/prompt-book/tasks/remind-me), that uses the task system instead of the calendar.
