# Follow-up tracking

alfred_ keeps a standing list of the replies you owe, on Home and in your morning brief. The replies you're waiting on from other people are one question away, and a weekly routine can round them up for you.

- **Replies you owe**: Someone asked you for something and you haven't answered. alfred_ keeps these as a standing list on Home and leads your morning brief with them.
- **Replies you're waiting on**: You asked someone for something and they haven't answered. Ask alfred_ any time, or turn on the Monday "Chase what I'm owed" routine.

## Replies you owe

A thread joins this list when a person wrote to you, you haven't answered, and a full working day has passed. alfred_ then reads the thread and keeps it only if an answer is actually expected: a question, a decision, a document. Mail from no-reply addresses, newsletters and notifications doesn't count.

| Shows up | Leaves the list |
| - | - |
| 1 working day after their message | When you reply, mark it done, archive or delete the thread, or after 21 days with nothing new on it |

A client asks for an updated schedule on Tuesday afternoon; by Wednesday afternoon it's on the list.

> **Weekends don't count**
>
> Working time pauses from Friday at 6 PM to Monday at 9 AM in your time zone, so an email that lands Friday evening isn't late by Saturday. Check your time zone in Settings, under Preferences.

## Replies you're waiting on

Three ways to see who still owes you an answer:

- **Ask.** "Who am I waiting on?" or "has Acme replied about the proposal?" in chat, by text, or in Claude and ChatGPT. alfred_ checks what you sent and what came back.
- **Chase what I'm owed.** A ready-made routine, every Monday at 8 AM by default. It reads what you sent in the last week and lists what you asked people to do, send, review, confirm, decide or pay that's still outstanding, oldest first, each with a short follow-up ready. It doesn't send them. See [Ready-made routines](https://get-alfred.ai/docs/routines/built-in-routines).
- **A routine of your own**, on the day and time you choose, like "every Friday at 3, text me who hasn't answered me this week". See [Make your own](https://get-alfred.ai/docs/routines/make-your-own).

## Ask for either list

- What do I still owe Harbor Facilities?
- Who am I waiting on?
- Anything from a client I haven't answered?

> *Example, by text. Names are made up.*
>
> **You:** What do I still owe Harbor Facilities?
>
> **alfred_:** Two replies:
>
> 1. Dana Reyes asked Tuesday for the updated cleaning schedule.
> 2. Marcus Lee wants a quote for the second floor by Friday.
>
> Want me to draft either one?

A follow-up is a reminder, not a sent email. alfred_ drafts a reply or a nudge when you ask for one and shows it to you first; it goes when you approve it. To get a round-up on a schedule, such as every Friday afternoon, set up a [routine](https://get-alfred.ai/docs/routines).

## If a thread is missing or won't leave

| What you see | What to do |
| - | - |
| This morning's email isn't on the list | It joins after one working day. Ask "what do I owe?" in chat to check sooner. |
| Nothing from one inbox shows up | Open Settings and check the account is still connected. Reconnect it if it isn't. |
| I answered by phone and it's still there | alfred_ only sees email replies. Mark the thread done and it leaves the list. |
