alfred_ connects to Outlook and Microsoft 365 with Microsoft's own sign-in. Microsoft handles your password; alfred_ doesn't see it. Connecting a Microsoft account also brings its calendar, OneDrive and SharePoint.

## How to connect

1. Open **Settings → Connected Accounts** (or **Integrations → Microsoft**)
2. Click to add a Microsoft account and sign in
3. Review and accept Microsoft's permission screen
4. You're back in alfred_, and your mail starts coming in right away

## What alfred_ asks for

- **Read your mail**, to show your inbox, flag what needs you, and find things when you ask
- **Send mail for you**, for replies you approve
- **Change mail**, to archive and move it when you ask
- **Your calendar and contacts**, to schedule and know who you're talking to

## Work and school accounts

Some organizations require an IT admin to approve new apps. If you see "Need admin approval", see [Microsoft admin approval](https://get-alfred.ai/docs/connect/microsoft-admin-approval). You can grant consent yourself at [get-alfred.ai/admin-consent](https://get-alfred.ai/admin-consent) if you're an admin, or forward that link to yours.

## Shared mailboxes

A Microsoft 365 shared mailbox, like support@ or bookings@, can be added through your own work account if you can already open it in Outlook.

1. In **Settings → Connected Accounts**, open your Microsoft work account
2. Add a shared mailbox and type its full address
3. If Microsoft asks, approve shared mailbox access, and you're back with the mailbox added

alfred_ can then read, sort and draft for that mailbox. To reply **as** that address, your IT admin needs to give you **Send As** permission on it; until then the mailbox shows "read and sort only". A shared mailbox counts as one of your six accounts.

## More than one account

Connect up to six accounts in any mix of Microsoft and Google. See [Connected accounts](https://get-alfred.ai/docs/connect).

## Removing access

- **From alfred_**: Settings → Connected Accounts, then remove the account
- **From Microsoft**: for a personal account, [account.microsoft.com/privacy/app-access](https://account.microsoft.com/privacy/app-access), then remove alfred_. For a work account, your admin can remove it under Microsoft Entra → Enterprise applications.

## Troubleshooting

**"Needs reconnect".** Microsoft's sign-in expired, usually after a password change. Click **Reconnect** next to the account in Settings.
